Revamped Lamp

Postby Zip Lock » Mon Jul 07, 2008 8:24 am

It all started on moving day July first au eight. While helping my sister move, I spotted a discarded Ikea TerTial. Turns out the switch was broken, that made me happy, I hate those twist switches and I will get to mount a switch of my choice. But I wanted to do more, then came the idea of adding a set of speakers to it.

Here is what I started with.

Then I cut some holes with a cutting disc, it was fun.

After cutting the holes in the box I acquired at addisons, I did some painting and assembled the circuitry. The amp is from an old set of Harmon Kardon computer speakers, powered by a 15v transformer. The other transformer is 5v to power/charge my Creative Zen. They are both connected to toggle switches. The light switch is illuminated.

Here is the lamp with the speakers mounted.

Closer look at a spkr.

I scavenged some nice wire wrap.

I plotted on making a dock for my music device. Maybe later.

Inside the lamp, incandescent bulb would not be a good idea.

And there we go, it sounds good, maybe I will post some video sometime.

DAMN, that is cool.
Geek Cred: Writin' a zombie comic for SLG, an online comic for 8+ years, an upcoming adventure comic for Ape Entertainment, designing a board game for same, a couple of unpublished novels, and shamefully more...
